Let bridal week commence; the Pakistan Fashion Design Council in collaboration with L’Oréal Paris, presented PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week which started off with a bang! The first day of PLBW 2018 was opened by a grouped bridal showcase featuring Nomi Ansari, Hussain Rehar and Rema & Shehrbano, followed by solo bridal shows featuring Saira*Shakira and Ali Xeeshan Theater Studio. We’ve made our picks of our favorite collections- scroll down and have a look at our favorite ensembles below:
Ali Xeeshan
Showcasing his bridal collection titled ‘Ijaazat’; Ali Xeeshan is always one to create a collection with a message- the collection paid homage to the skilled craftsmanship of our culture with blends of chic design details using unconventional materials stitched into bold silhouettes and accentuated with brightly shaded embroideries in canary yellows, tangerine and cranberry pinks. Our top choice included the designers trail blazing ensemble featuring a mixture of loud yet synchronized colors- sea green, lemon yellow and tropical orange came together to create an off shoulder choli and lehnga that is fit for a true fashion forward fashionista!
Nomi Ansari
Known for his signature lehnga choli’s; Nomi Ansari turned up the heat showcasing his Bridal/Festive collection ‘Maya’. In true Nomi style, the designer worked with sumptuous tulle, pure organza and sheer layers to create voluminous silhouettes, including flowing skirts, wide pants and Dhaka pajamas dovetailed with sleek, tailored cholis. Filled with delicate hand embellishments from top to toe- A Nomi Ansari bridal is all about grandeur and opulence- taking on a black base for a bridal can be tricky; however, the designer amalgamated the look with lush crimson colored detailing and accents of glittering golds- Fouzia Aman took the runway in this ensemble and blew us away.
Rema & Shehrbano
Making their ramp debut at PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2018, Rema & Shehrbano showcased their bridal collection ‘Sophia’. The fabrics consisted of velvet, tissue, organza, cotton net, jamawar and shamoise with classic cuts from angrakhas to box kurtas, lengha cholis and peshwas. The pieces also incorporate hand work of gota, zardozi, mukeish, tilla, kora, dabka and hand embroidery. Sophisticated, classic and elegant, the color palette comprised of vibrant mango and coral shades to glamorous jewel tones, dusky gold’s and modern silver and whites.
Saira Shakira
A glitzy throwback to Persia in the 1920s re-imagined with contemporary workmanship, ‘Fairuza’ is based on enriching color palette from nudes, to red and everything in between. Showcasing a staggering 30 ensembles, the collection also featured menswear pieces. Metallic shades of silver, metal and gold made appearances throughout the collection; highlighted with statement hand embroideries and digital prints- Saira Shakira’s line up definitely made a mark with the designer duo taking on challenging concepts and bringing them to life in the form of bridal wear. The menswear looks were suave yet classic and the women’s bridals were fit for a modern day princess!
