The eleventh PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week officially commenced on 9th March 2018, marking the ninth consistent year of the prêt a porter platform. Day 1 marked the first day of the prét-a-porter shows featuring a grouped show comprising of PEL Craft/Design Show with GOLD by Reama Malik and Hira Ali and a grouped show featuring Hussain Rehar, Arjumand Bano and Sania Maskatiya. Pakistan’s brightest stars stepped out to witness fashions biggest night- scroll down and have a look at our top picks from the evening:
Hira Ali
showcasing her Luxury Prét collection “Woman Is Future”. The collection was a celebration of strong confident women who carve their own paths and despite the challenges and obstacles they face daily. The collection presented contemporary silhouettes using a variety of fabrics such as cottons, crepe and organza net. The embroidery comprised of experimental techniques using crystals and nets as well as silk threads and various beads and crystals. The color palette comprised of white reds to rose dust to ice blue and beige. Subtlety is key and Hira Ali definitely knows how to create a statement ensemble using the ‘less is more’ strategy! A big yes from us on this collection!
Hussain Rehar
We’ve always been fans of Hussain Rehar’s work and this season he brought to life his latest collection ‘Sunken reverie’. The collection comprised of accented striped blazers, jackets highlighted with zippers, sheer net skirts and stockings. With floor length dresses and stripes hanging off with delicate embroideries encapsulating wild sea creatures, the color palette showcased shades of tangerines, oranges, mustards and fuschia pinks, to blues, silvers, black and whites. Featuring jackets with cutout metal rings and accent trims highlighting them surrounded with chunky 3D embellishments- the range was edgy and definitely packed a punch!
Sania Maskatiya
One of our all time favorite designers Sania Maskatiya brought the heat with her latest collection ‘Color Dash’-eclectic color combinations become the playfulness of form against monochrome for Sania Maskatiya’s Luxury Prét Collection and it’s safe to say we think the designer has taken a turn for the better; amping up her design sense and creating a collection that is playful yet fashion forward. Maintaining her signature elements like asymmetrical silhouettes and hand crafted embellishments while stepping into a more street style category; this collection gets a big thumbs up from us!
