The pioneering Fashion Pakistan Council commenced the first day of Fashion Pakistan Week 2017, Winter/Festive with lots of hype and grandeur on Tuesday, September 12th at the Grand Marquees in Karachi. The three-day event expected to be filled with glitz and sparkles, and a line-up of about 18 prominent designers showcased their latest formal, semi-formal and bridal collections hence marking the trends of the season.
The red carpet was buzzing with celebs, media, stars and fashionistas, bloggers were seen taking pictures from every angle. Day 1 began with a striking and awe-inspiring collection showcased by Misha Lakhani, proceeded by exquisite collections of five more designers; Aamna Aqeel, Erum Khan, Obaid Sheikh, Saira Rizwan and Suffuse by Sana Yasir. The make-up maestro Nabila from N-Pro and N-Gents, styled the models with her signature aplomb.
Misha Lakhani
Misha Lakhani’s couture and ready-to-wear range consisted of finely embroidered ensembles that stunned the audience. The collection was mainly inspired by Persian, Central Asian and Indian designs,created using hand-woven silks and intricate needle craft embroidery. Her signature subtle floral work and a combination of colours varying from bold maroons to delicate whites, her collection outdid everyone elses. We fell in love with her ravishing pastel saaris and we cannot wait to get our hands on them for the upcoming festive season. The ever gorgeous showstopper Sadaf Kanwal looked ethereal and the crowd could not stop praising her.
Suffuse
Sana Yasir’s extravagant collection full of silver tassels and sparkles left everyone in awe. Metallics on point! The spectacular range of silver formal wear, was created using bespoke tailoring, presenting an ode to the modern women. Each outfit exuded elegance and glamour. Suffuse by Sana Yasir collaborated with the renowned Jaipur and Co. for jewellery. We could not get our eyes off those beautiful jewels. You can easily wear these outfits and jewellery to the upcoming weddings and make a statement. Her striking collection, paired with intricately designed jewellery, presented one of the best ensembles on the ramp on Day 1. Her collection is definitely one that is sure to turn heads.
Saira Rizwan
Saira Rizwan’s ‘Glitterati’ was a manifestation of splendour and grace. Her collection had voguish designs and striking ornamentation on rich fabrics with deep hues such as velvet, brocade and tissue.You cannot miss the detailed pants, all of them were uniquely designed adorned with stunning embellishments.The collection, comprising of formals and bridals in shades of starry night with tilla embroidery and exquisite 3D embellishments was nothing short of a treat with lots of sparkle. She chose a subtle colour palette varying from oranges to olive greens also navy blues and blacks, the collection entailed contemporary cuts highlighting some modern trends for the season. The collection was a mix of flamboyant silhouettes and stunning colour schemes. Sumbul Iqbal, the showstopper looked flawless in a coral, salmon pink ensemble that would make a perfect bridal.
Obaid Sheikh
Obaid Sheikh, through his collection depicted a woman’s strength and beauty. He used bold colours like oranges, maroon, deep golds.Conveying the message that every woman is beautiful, he used strong, yet elegant ethnic work alongside Marodi and Raisha techniques that completed each ensemble exquisitely. He also presented a menswear collection that was pretty amazing. Brides and grooms to be, take note.
