Wardha Saleem’s “Dholak- Festive’17” collection celebrates the most festive wedding occasion of the sub-continent. Traditional yet playful, the collection is a symphony of vibrant colors, intricate techniques and details. Designed for the perfect Mehendi bride who believes in individualistic style and in making a statement. The collection is inspired by Dholak, that has been constant in our culture when it comes to festivities; from your basic Sangeet to the wedding rituals and at all occasions of bridal celebrations. A big fat desi wedding usually has 5 to 6 events and it gets difficult to keep choosing designers, but Wardha is a life saver who has specifically designed outfits for these events.
The designer chooses a combination of festive colours inspired by our rich and vibrant heritage, such as bright hues of fuchsia, radiant oranges, vibrant greens, lustrous blue, passionate plums and rich shades of cranberry red in her own signature style. A kaleidoscope of tints and hues, immersed in traditional ethos and formidable craftsmanship. The collection pays tribute to the craftsmanship and age old techniques of the sub-continent with traditional block and screen printing techniques, intricate embroideries, gota work, kaamdani, applique and basketry. We spot some stunning floral and deer motifs which instantly add creativity to the outfits. Wardha’s festive collection’17 has left us in awe and we cannot wait to check out her ravishing collection at FPW’17. Check out the photos below and have a sneak peak before the show:
