Morri Couture has hit another high note with us with their Pre fall 2016 ‘Khwaab Gah’ collection of exquisite formal wear. Featuring feminine cuts and a majestic color palette the campaign is a real visual feast- starring Amna baber in wholesome, pungent colors illuminating dark spaces to create a stark and impactful immediacy. The brand takes its inspiration from art and design from around the globe and celebrates the fusion of old world heritage with contemporary designs- paying tribute to the modern woman. Creative Head of the label; Hammad Sadiq, has described this collection as ‘an assortment of different inspirations, East and West, put together in one place. It will tell you of a room where a woman in love dreams of experiencing all kinds of emotions. It takes you through the moonlit night and birds glowing beside roses in bloom. You will see how a silvery white peacock rests mysteriously outside her window at midnight amidst a trellis of flowers. There is passion inside her heart synonymous to the warm fireplace and moths of love whirling around the lanterns she has lit up. There is this enchanted room, her Khwaab Gah, she is there and so is her heart which has blossomed into love and unveils all the magic around her.’
We love their behind the scenes snippets giving us insight into how each intricate outfit was molded and created into artful master pieces. One of our favorite shots is of the elaborately ornamented evening gown with silvery white thread work laced with pearls, rendering an old school 1920’s appeal- we certainly can’t get our eyes off of this one! The techniques used to decorate the garments illustrates how skillful each artisan is in achieving the most complex details, beautifully translated, for example, onto the midnight blue chiffon hand worked sari; and the Persian red and plum silk front open coat accentuated with rich antique gold Zari nets.
