As the opening designer for the oh-so happening Fashion Pakistan Week 2016 day one, Deepak Perwani enthralled us yet again with his new dphilosophy collection of cool and funky styles. He definitely makes a unique statement with this range titled “fix it” dedicated to fixing Karachi from the current turmoil, inspired by the city itself. He uses bright pastels with shades of pink, orange and yellow in combination with pristine whites and black, creating a vibrant yet subtle colour play. There is a generous use of fun, floral, geometric and typographic prints with clean lines and breezy silhouettes. One of our favorite picks from the ramp was the stand out over-sized all white ruffle dress and we love how Deepak has maintained his signature classic and contemporary aesthetic, with a notable focus on flared and straight pants, jackets and culottes’ styles in this show. Our favorite go-to designer for a fun and flirty look- Deepak has fixed it good!

Wardha Saleem always manages to impress us with her exceptionally creative and funky design aesthetic. This time she surely rocked the ramp with a captivating line of trendy and colourful pieces with a strong focus on neon green and pink. We were a huge fan of the beautiful embroidered flora and fauna motifs inspired by our cultural heritage–smartly pulled off in modern and western styles of skirts, dresses and jackets. As the models walked the ramp in over-sized headphones and bright neon socks paired with boot/sneakers, they oozed a quirky yet feminine charm- in sync with the currently trending street style! Hats off to Wardha on blending contemporary cuts with traditional hand craft techniques such as embroidery, quilting, patchwork and appliqué. The showcase was complimented by chic hand painted handbags- this season’s definite must-have pieces. An outstanding designer with a hands down mesmerizing collection.

The super enterprising Lala textiles swept the ramp in stunning and glittery shades of gold and salmon pink! The models beautifully strutted a combination of eastern and western silhouettes with an emphasis on flared and flowing cuts in gauzy and shimmery materials, creating a strong feminine visual appeal. The brand has employed traditional handy work of stone embellishments, zari embroidery and sequins as the defining characteristic of the collection. We were especially crushing on the sparkling nude jumpsuit with a distinctive chiffon cape that made waves on the catwalk. Lala textiles has made its mark in our minds with its memorable collection of glamorous and opulent clothing!
