Apart from the usual Valentines festivities, this last Sunday also saw the exclusive one day bridal trunk show by Zara Shahjahan at her Karachi store that brought many a bride-to-be rushing not to miss the opportunity for a one-on-one session with the Lahore based designer and a chance to examine her SS’16 bridals up close. Heading to the grand store on Bukhari Commercial we met with the Creative Director Zara Shahjahan . While the store has been up and running since last year, the bridal studio has still been in the works and so it was a must visit.

The exhibit was well worth pushing Valentines Day plans for with a charming array of extreme opulence and levels of designs suited for the bride and her family. Beautiful colors for spring and a pan-seasonal palette of mint green, dreamy lilacs, dusty golds, pretty pinks and plums draped on mannequins, however immediately catching attention was a signature Zara Shahjahan ensemble that displayed a heavy worked mint kameez with a pretty pink floral print lengha. We appreciated that the true essence of the brand was transcending into bridals.

Lighter embellished lengha cholis came in a myriad of yellows, whites, pinks and lavenders colors. The heavy worked cholis accented with swarovski and pearls were matched with geometric and floral weaved lenghas with pearl finishes and a net dupatta perfect for the bride’s family to adorn for the countless dholkis coming their way.

The maturity and intricacy of embellishment was undeniably supreme, such as a beautiful plum dupatta with heavy gold embroidery, handcrafted to perfection, the work entailed zardozi, resham and tilla work to create a floral pattern that would look gorgeous on any bride. Conventional classics gave way to heavy worked short kameezes and pants for the perfect on trend bridal formals in rich zardozi gold threads and others in swarovski, cutwork and ofcourse a splash of abundant pearls.

Zara revealed her plans to launch the bridal studio in the basement area of the store very soon allowing Karachi clients to place orders with ease. Quite satisfied with the response to the trunk show she was eager to bring the bridal studio to an official opening. Set against the popular Xanders eatery the store is already a great hit for fashion finds for casual pret, luxury pret, formals, separates and now very soon will be a hot spot for bridals as well.
