The Pakistan Fashion Design Council in collaboration with L’Orèal Paris presented the 7th PFDC L’Orèal Paris Bridal Week. Misha Lakhani, Sania Maskatiya, Sana Safinaz, Sara Rohale Asghar showcased their collections on day 2. Designers definitely upped their game this season. We saw lots of velvets, lamè, shimmery nets followed by tassels, tulles, heavily embellished pants, front open jackets and floor sweeping silhouettes. Each outfit spoke for itself and we obviously fell in love with them. Scroll down to check out our top picks from the second day of PLBW:
Misha Lakhani
Misha Lakhani showcased her bridal collection ‘Bagh–e–Bahar’ at PLBW . The collection celebrated the modern Mughal in a mix of Persian, Central Asian and indigenous Indian style. We absolutely loved each and every outfit that oozed with stunning details. The designer used her signature fabrics such as silk, net, velvet, muslin and tissue. She has also combined different techniques such as applique with badla and zardozi with resham accents throughout the collection. This collection was a mix of enriching hues of ivory, gold, soft pink, aubergine and red. The super famous actress Armeena Khan was the showstopper and she looked ethereal in a beautiful bright red lehnga choli. We absolutely loved this velvet short kameez that had gold floral applique details paired with a shalwar. Simply cannot wait to wear this outfit to the upcoming winter weddings.
Sana Safinaz
Sana Safinaz’s ‘The Last of the Night’ comprised of 20 designs in a variety of modified silhouettes including A-lines, slouchy sheaths, elaborate trumpets, front open shirts and ultra-dramatic back trails. The colour palette consisted of dreamy pastels such as powder blue, blush pinks, pale yellows with white silver and grey undertones and used whimsical 3D embellishments such as feathers, tassels and tulle to make for an ultra-feminine yet starkly modern aesthetic. Our favourite had to be the jaw dropping pink ombre gown with lots of dramatic tulle paired with a shimmery embellished front open kameez! The collection also featured 6 classic, minimalistic and refined menswear designs in soft pastels hues and geometric patterns that reflect modern and chic aesthetics with a twist. Showstopper Amna Babar literally had us speechless. Her outfit was enchanting and mesmerising with intricate floral details, tulle and a long trail.
Sania Maskatiya
Sania Maskatiya showcased their brand new bridal collection titled “SAMARKAND” that no doubt knocked it out of the park. Amrapali’s beautiful jewels added more glitz and glam to the outfits. The bridal collection derives patterns, motives and details from the heritage of the golden era in Samarkand. Sania Maskatiya used her signature fabrics such as gold spun tissue to brocade, silk, velvet, jamawar and French nets. A vibrant colour palette and a mix of rich golds- this collection will be spotted at every upcoming winter wedding. We just could not get enough of how each piece had different details, splash of bright striking colours and patterns. We were awestruck after looking at this gold angharka with multi coloured floral embroidery paired with a fuschia lehnga and tangerine duppata! How can one not wear this at a mehndi and not be in the limelight? Sania has infused her signature traditional craftsmanship in contemporary and traditional silhouettes such as front open kameez, high low peplums, ghagra choli and angharka. We love how she used a velvet chaadar as an extra accessory, that added a regal effect to the outfit. The collection comprised of menswear too such as modern sherwanis with silk stoles, velvet jackets and printed shawls.
Sara Rohale Asghar
Sara Rohale Asghar’s ‘The Royal Attire’ collection was inspired by a devouring journey through the elaborate lifestyle of the mystic Arabian world. The colour palette included dusky grey, shimmery golds, earthy peaches and finally some reds alongside dewy tissue and flowy nets. We spotted elaborate A-line silhouettes, Farshi lehangas, structured ball gown skirts to slightly tapered straight line shirts. Our eyes were completely set on her fully worked pants and azaars. Ace actress Mehwish Hayat was the showstopper and looked nothing but gorgeous.
