The mother daughter duo team of Mina Hasan and Alisha Hashmi Mandivwala has always wowed us with their feminine statement silhouettes and their embellished one of a kind formals. Designing luxury prêt and bridals for years the Mina Hasan label jumps on the lawn bandwagon this year and gives us an exclusive scoop behind their very first and exciting SS’16 lawn venture. Releasing nationwide on March 12th get a sneak peak at their exclusive prints below and the entire range of products their lawn campaign offers.
Is lawn something Mina Hasan always wanted to branch off in to? How did this new lawn venture come about?
We have come a long way in our design process for luxury prêt and bridals, and as a team we decided to challenge ourselves and venture in to lawn. We wanted to create unique and versatile collection of prints that are wearable and yet stay true to the Mina Hasan design aesthetic that embraces the femininity.
Tell us about the inspiration behind your first lawn collection and what color palettes were used to create the collection?
The collection is inspired by baroque chinoiserie featuring a unique combination of baroque motifs and trellises with distinct floral elements. A versatile color palette with balanced contrasts and delicate embroideries make the collection apt for the spring summer season. Modern prints paired against vintage elements make room for more striking elements within the collection.
Known for your embellished formals and floral casuals what designs can we hope to expect in your new lawn collection?
With this debut collection we played with colors, patterns, and distinct design elements to make the new lawn collection very chic and suitable for the summer.
Can you tell us about the product that you will be launching and the price philosophy you will be pertaining to?
The lawn collection consists of 8 designs in 2 sets of colors with each design accompanied by printed pants and chiffon/silk dupatta. At a price point limited at Rs. 6,000 we deliver a high quality product at a good price.
Known for your trendy cuts and feminine appeal, what styles and silhouettes define the Mina Hasan lawn aesthetic?
We always stay true to keeping our designs classic and wearable for our clientèle. The Mina Hasan Lawn aesthetic is an example of that always classic attire we strongly uphold.
What is the identifying feature of Mina Hasan Lawn and how does it distinguish from the variety of lawn designers currently out there?
Our defining feature is definitely our high quality fabrics, strikingly beautiful designs and the bright colour palettes we have worked hard to produce in our first lawn collection. There is a lot of lawn product in the market right now but we aim to work around the philosophy to have our designs stand out with at least one focal unique element that signifies our brand.
Describe your individual strengths and how you like working together?
Mina is the creative head and almost all the design direction comes from her. I (Alisha) maintain the organization and collaboration between different departments and processes that is needed in the design process and convert her creative ideas in to practical designs.
What’s next for the mother daughter duo?
Alisha- The next months are very busy with the Mina Hasan S/S ’16 formals releasing next month. We also have a lot planned for Eid in terms of luxury pret, lawn and embroidered chiffon that we are very excited to showcase.
