Trend Alert: Get on Board with the Brocade Revival !

Elevate your winter wardrobe with brocade! All about luxury and rich feels previously limited to fabrics for palatial home decor; this ultimate luxe silk textile is giving the usual winter favorite; velvet a good run for its money and fits like a beautifully embellished glove for the festive season. These A list local designers have already jumped ahead of the game to show us how to wear brocade this season not to mention the London Fashion Week’15 Fall runways that embraced the trend whole heartedly particularly at Erdem, Stella McCartney, Prada and many more. Plus a look at some hand picked favorites from Etro and Alice + Olivia!

Undeniably Ali Xeeshan has been a leader in taking this glorious trend to its style pinnacle with his quirky cool aesthetics and sheer masterful opulence. The colorful brocade-centric designs on these eastern brides leaves us in awe of his collection but his western twist with the vibrant skirt on Ayesha Omar and Mahnum Kabir both paired with a simple white button-down, or the brocade pants with a casual white kurta effortlessly bring the trend full circle to casual chic.

Misha Lakhani romances the brocade trend in her signature laid back luxury approach. The brocade pants from Misha’s Autumn Winter 2015 collection are simple and understated and just what we need to match our east-west separates with for winter. Brocade motif ghagra skirts from the Wanderlust collection are equally versatile for casual chic and evening wear as seen executed gracefully by the designer herself at a dholki.

Umaima Mustafa played wonderfully with the fabric as well with this interchangeable brocade high collared vest that can be worn for the wedding season as a choli or for a winter festive party with culottes as seen on uber stylish Address Home founder Saba Parvez-Dada at a recent brunch! Matching a black volume skirt and some traditional earrings you can easily translate this brocade look for a mehndi or dholki. It’s no wonder this designer gets full marks for universal versatility with her designs.

The brocade extension to accessories also gets our vote as seen just this week at the Soma Intl by Samia Akram khussa exhibition at Ensemble Karachi. From classic brocade print to handwork embellishments this new label has its pulse on the latest fashion trends. We love the unique texture and how it adds a rich feel to everyday casual khussa slippers.

Velvet and Gold,  Zainab Salman creates trendy all in one! The gold and black brocade work on the pants complimented by the velvet floral jacket makes it a must have attire for an evening out.

Finally this Shamsha Hashwani pure brocade silk collared oversize kurta says it all! A lovely statement outfit for those casual winter evenings out.
