Fashion Pakistan Week Winter/Festive 2015 broke records with its fury of trends on the ramp! The no holds barred approach allowing for both luxury bridals and pret wear empowered designers with freedom to really have fun with their creative side and the result was a wonderful melting pot with ofcourse some expected overlap between the most popular styles for the season. From bridal collections for the Dec/Jan’16 wedding season to an evening wear extravaganza celebrating the upcoming Winter Balls and New Year parties FPW’15 was an ode to festive fashion. Short-listing the hottest trends we give you an all-exclusive trend guide to sport this winter season!

A Touch of Fur – The must have accessory on the ramp, the fur pieces in Hisham Malik and Shehla Chatoor’s ensemble added the perfect cold winter feel to the collection. Not forgetting the eye-catching faux fur woven jackets in Gulabo’s collection that cued us in that winter is truly coming

Block Heels – Always bringing their A game, Sana Safinaz opts for a non traditional approach by not abiding by the standard stilettos in its entire collection and showcasing an old glamour twist by introducing the chunky block heels in different color variations in its applauding collection.

Flared Affair – Time to give those 70’s flares a modern tweak opting for a more flattering lengthening frame. Seen more on the western lines of Elan, Sana Safinaz and Maheen Karim we love how Faraz Manan and Delphi incorporated them in their Eastern collections too.

Bowed & Belted – Bow knots and belted silhouettes graced the runway making oversized dressing super elegant. Seen on traditional bridal looks such as Zainab Chottani and Nida Azwer, the versatility of the tied look came through in belted sari styles at Faraz Manan and conveyed modern day chic appeal at Sana Safinaz and Sania Maskatiya.

Caped Crusaders – Capes ruled the FPW runway as we saw a myriad of them in different lengths such as the one sided long Elan’s 3D embellished cape to the short Swarovski embellished Maheen Karim and the Neo Victorian Nilofer Shahid cape. Eastern translations were brilliantly presented as well at Fnk Asia, Gulabo and Deepak Perwani’s collections.

Chaddars– Drape your selves to brace the winter with the regal embroidered chaddars from Deepak Perwani, Zainab Chottani, Zaheer Abbas and Obaid Sheikh’s collections. Suitable for both genders this elegant creation serves the purpose of staying fashionable and warm this wedding season.

Chand Balis– It’s all about the eastern glamour and these beautifully crafted chaand balis could never grow old especially with the return to old school couture fashion.

Crazy for Culottes– We love the airy silhouette of these knee length trousers. Sported at Nida Azwer, Gulabo, Maheen Karim and Wardha Saleem’s collection, this trend is here to stay.

Cropped Cut-Outs– Peek-a-boo is making waves this season. Learn how to show some skin with elegance with these jaw dropping cut outs seen at Shehla Chatoor, Ayesha Hashwani, Elan Maheen Karim, Nida Azwer and Fnk Asia collections.

Dhoti Shalwar – The Shalwar Reincarnated in Printed, Velvet, Dhoti and Patiala rocked the runway. Seen on various bridal pieces, the modern twist to the tribal village style is definitely a must have this season.

Eye-Catching Ivory– Head to Toe Ivory has never looked this good. The FPW ramp had celebrities of the likes of Mahira Khan sporting an Umar Sayeed ivory gold bridal ensemble. Hisham Malik’s show stopper Mehreen Syed looked ravishing in a beautiful ivory ball gown that took our breath away. Other favorites include Faraz Manan and Nauman Arfeen showcasing ivory on the ramp and we love the embossed detail on the kurtas. The winter festive theme had our eye on ivory and these designers nailed it.

Ruffled Up– The Ruffled Silhouette is back with a bang! Nilofer Shahid’s collection showcased some major Neo Victorian neck ruffles. Slaying the ramp, Sania Maskatiya’s collection had crisp clean folds of major ruffle detailing on the front. Sana Safinaz kept it nice and snazzy with one of their pieces all ruffled out in a peplum effect while Ayesha Hashwani went full throttle with a ruffled up ensemble that added every bit of pizzazz to the ensemble.
