Bollywood Blast: IIFA Awards 2013 Green Carpet Moments
Just as we wrap up the LSA 2013 Red Carpet let’s move on to the IIFA Awards 2013 Green Carpet held in Macau a few days earlier. The list of winners this year included some re-runs such as Vidya Balan who once again bagged the title of Best Actress for her riveting performance in ‘Kahaani’ while Ranbir Kapoor beat senior actors such as Shahrukh Khan and Irfan Khan for the Best Actor Award for his film ‘Barfi’. Anushka Sharma showed off her lovely Roberto Cavalli dress as she accepted the honour of Best Supporting Actress for ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ and Deepika Padukone made a statement in glitzy Naeem Khan accepting her shared award with Ranbir Kapoor for ‘Best On-Screen Couple’. After the disaster at The Cannes Film Festival 2013 we were relieved to see Vidya Balan drop Sabyasachi in favor of Anand Kabra.
Deepika Padukone is on a roll, choosing Naeem Khan consistently for her red carpet appearances for most award shows over the last few years, after all why ruin a perfectly good match? She chose a scintillating split leg embellished dusty pink and silver dress for the award show and a cutting edge trouser dress with a silver detailed sari blouse top for the green carpet. Personally we prefer the pink but agree she is rocking both the looks with poise.
Amrita Rao chose a metallic sequined, sheer grey gown by Monica and Karishma for her moment of glory but the dress had limited appeal and the accessories didn’t further the glam quotient enough.
Madhuri Dixit would have been better suited heading to a wedding rather than a glamourous event in this over the top gota border lace sari also be Monica and Karishma. We have seen her dress way better than this garish look.
Dia Mirza always comes to play on the red carpet and this time was no different. She was stunning in a tulle antique gold intricately embellished strapless gown by Ayesha Depala.
Neha Dhupia covered up in an Anamika Khana open flared jacket taken in at the waist and detailed in the designer’s signature style. The pulled up hair and statement earrings were a good call by the actress and she looks exquisite.
Sophie Chaudhry was a vision in this Cleopatra style jeweled silk dress.
After a few mishaps we’re glad to see Anushka Sharma back the way we like her, sweet and angelic in a Roberto Cavali sheer pleated couture gown with a crystal embellished back and subtle detailing in the front.
Sridevi proves she can still dazzle flawlessly in cocktail wear in a form fitting top-to-toe sequined gown.
Best Debut Actor Female; Yami Gautum opts for a color block full skirted gown with a metallic waist by Swapnil Shinde and the look is a clear hit.
Jaqueline Fernandez chose a shimmering gold mermaid cut dress by Roberto Cavalli that compliments her flawless figure to the tee.
The metallic belt trend is certainly eye catching and was also spotted on Minisha Lambha wearing a burgundy string fur gown.
Parineeti Chopra was a pleasure to sporting a trend setting wide metallic wait Nikhil Thampi dress with bright red peep toes and a carved gold cuff.
Who was your choice for ‘Best Dressed’ on the IIFA Awards 2013 Green Carpet?
