Bollywood Blast: Deepika & Ranbir at ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ Promotions
Have you booked your tickets for ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ starring Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor together again for the first time since the couple split? The much awaited Bollywood film opens at cinemas tomorrow and at least from the songs and trailers appears promising. With the recent lull in wholesome romantic films with a strong star cast, audiences are starved for some heart warming classic story-telling. Given their romantic past, the lead couple have left no stone unturned to promote their upcoming venture and while we’ll have to wait and see if the film holds up to the hype, lets take a look at Deepika’s looks at the several promotional events she has appeared at in the weeks leading up to the release.
Deepika in Halston Heritage with the film crew
Deepika is not as much of a glamorous dresser in daily life as you might expect after seeing her at award show red carpets. She prefers to stick with high street labels such as Zara, Top Shop and even Forever 21. Additionally it seems unlike most actresses she has a serious aversion to heels, opting for Zara’s thong sandals in every possible color instead. We admire her simple taste however wish she would shake things up a bit more. After all part of being a celebrity is dressing like one, especially when you’re promoting your own film.
Her first get up involved a short Halston Heritage cheerleader dress that she paired with a skinny knotted belt and leopard print ballet flats. Some how Deepika who always looks remarkably petite on screen didn’t project the same dainty waistline in this dress.
Deepika in Thakoon floral maxi dress
Signature thong sandals
Next she was spotted in a Thakoon floral printed maxi dress and a half twist hairdo that had a nice Bohemian feel. Unfortunately she paired it with thong sandals which are not the most complimentary form of footwear.
Polka dotted Deepika
The polka dotted blazer and matching shorts with a high tie ponytail were a cute choice but those unflattering sandals took away slightly from the charm. Deepika certainly likes to dress young and hip but perhaps a touch of more adult refined choices would elevate her look.
ZARA floral blazer
Top to toe Zara
Top Shop printed pants and a crochet camisole
The 27 year old actress sported both the season’s top trends; florals and stripes during her promotional tour as well. She chose a Zara floral tailored blazer but we are struggling to ascertain why she would pair it with powder blue denims and once again thong sandals this time in neon! Her flower print pencil blue skirt and simple white top both courtesy Zara, would have been a wonderful combination of femininity and elegance if it weren’t for those exact same neon thong sandals. The only case in which we approve of her flats style is with these pretty printed Top Shop pants that go great with the gold metallic spikes.
Forever 21 top
Marc Cain dress
ZARA striped blazer
Stripes followed with a strapless peplum Forever 21 top, monochrome Zara blazer, and a Marc Cain sporty dress. For the finale of an Indian reality competition show, she was dressed by Pankaj & Nidhi in a surface embroidered front open cape style kurta and izaar pants paired with traditional khussas. This was perhaps her best look of all her guest appearances for YJHD.
Deepika in Pankaj & Nidhi with Ranbir Kapoor
All in all Deepika continued to underplay with a laid back look, perhaps in line with her character in the film that is of a bit of a nerd. Regardless we would advise the actress to introduce some new styles into her shoe closet, perhaps some wedges once in a while!
