Trend Alert: Street Style Meets Celebrity Style

trend_alert_street_style_celebrity_style_feature

Its one thing to talk about the latest trends and view them on the runway, but to see them actually applied by real people that you can identify and associate with makes it a whole lot easier to swallow and simply more fun! This week we bring you real celebrities wearing their own real clothes picked out by themselves rather than a stylist. Recently we have had the pleasure of attending quite a few exclusive lawn preview events and exciting new product launches where we spotted some excellent trends that we’d like to share with you.

Safinaz Muneer at the Kamal Lawn by Zara Shahjahan Launch in Karachi

Sania Maskatiya with Umair Tabani and Nabeel Abdullah at the Sapphire Lawn by Sania Maskatiya Preview Event in Karachi

By now you’ve probably noticed that you no longer need five yards of fabric for a kameez. Hemlines have hiked up to knee length and panels and flare have gone out the window. At first you may have been reluctant to accept this fact but we’re confident after seeing Safinaz Muneer; one half of the dream team of Sana Safinaz, and Sania Maskatiya in their no fuss straight cuts you too will become converts. Safinaz was seen wearing a classy black and gold gota cutwork shirt with a pop of fresh turquoise that rested just above her knees with tapered pencil pants at the Kamal Lawn by Zara Shahjahan preview held a few days ago. The original lawn designers switched to the sleek silhouette a while back and have disclosed that the cut will be a consistent theme in their RTW range at their prêt stores opening next month as well. Sania was spotted wearing a pretty pastel design from her wildly successful debut lawn collection at the preview event and endorsed the change in lengths as well. It will definitely prove a welcome and more comfortable change given the heat wave that we are in for in the coming months.

NFK Stylist Maha Burney at Toni&Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe Event

Actress Syra Yousuf with husband Shehroz Sabzwari at Toni&Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe Event

We have always been open to the concept of leather pants in theory, however not as much in practical life. However after seeing NFK Creative Director, Maha Burney and Actress Syra Yousuf wear them at the Toni&Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe event held last week, we highly recommend them. Leather is often thought to be restricted to an edgy, fearless fashion sense. But in truth, worn correctly you can pull them off in an easy to wear, street style manner as well. While Syra tones down with a feminine day color, casually knotted top, Maha understates with a simple loose fitting white Zara shirt, trendy color block Nine West heels and a neon Zara bag for a young, fresh and ultra cool finish.

Maheen Karim with stylist Asma Mumtaz at Toni&Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe Event

(L to R) Natasha & Hina Khalid, Meher Najeeb & Tehmina Ali, and Nabila Maqsood

(L to R) Ayesha Omar, Cybil Chaudhry, and Nomi Ansari

Remarking on the cocktail of trouser cuts observed on our outings, quirky high street designer Feeha Jamshed said “Everything is in right now”. Indeed it is as we noticed everything from leather skinnys to pleated silk harem pants on Maheen Karim from her signature collection. If you always wanted to try them but didn’t know how, take a cue from Maheen’s effortless style. She pairs them with a tucked in casual Zara top and printed Satya Paul scarf. Printed wide legged and straight cuts as seen on Ayesha Omar and model Cybil Chaudhry, tapered gold brocade Top Shop trousers on stylist Meher Najeeb, a lot of white jeans on Maha Burney, Tehmina Ali; stylist at Meher’s Salon, and Hina Khalid of Natasha Salon, and floral prints on Stylist Nabila were all excellent examples of how to wear these trends in life.

Ayesha Farook Hashwani with her daughter

For the best casual meet polished look we voted for Ayesha Farook Hashwani seen with her lovely daughter at the Kamal Lawn by Zara Shahjahan launch wearing all black cropped pants with a deep purple, long Missoni cardigan and matching Hermes flats, finishing with a gold Chanel coin chain necklace and black Birkin.

Fauzia Aman in a chic Shehla Chatoor one-shoulder dress at the HUM Awards

Ayesha Omar in a Shehla Chatoor drape dress accessorized with her signature metallic logo  gold necklaceand cow hide clutch

Humaima Malik in Elan by Khadijah Shah

The asymmetric off-shoulder has been a popular choice for luxury formal evening wear with Fauzia Aman and Ayesha Omar, both of whom opted for Shehla Chatoor Couture, while Humaima Malik chose a shaded lavender one-shoulder ensemble by Khadijah Shah of Elan for a Samsung Galaxy event. We love the fusion between the draped sari-like pleats and the glamorous chic neckline that shows of their perfect sculpted figure. Ayesha enhanced her feminine look with signature metallic logo Shehla Chatoor necklace and cow hide clutch.

Wardha Saleem in a fuschia silk jumpsuit and Tapu Javeri clutch

Wardha Saleem   who was cheerful in a fuschia silk jumpsuit at the INOA Hair Show, shows us how to wear the playful knotted wrist scarf. The peek-a-boo with print is a great way to stand apart but retains understated characteristics, we love it.

Feeha Jamshed at Toni&Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe Event

Frieha Altaf Toni&Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe Event

Mahira Khan at Kam Sukhan by Kiran Aman Book Launch

Then there are a few born confident trendsetters like Feeha Jamshed, Mahira Khan and Frieha Altaf who can put together anything and walk out looking great. Feeha is popular for putting together statement accessories from her Mom’s brilliant collection and adding her own edgy touch for a completely original look every time. She did just that at the Toni&Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe Event last week. Freiha Altaf who we love for taking risks with her fashion aesthetic appeared at the same event in a Pucci graphic print dress and Michael Kors studded stack heels that are a raging current trend. Actress Mahira Khan, who just won an award for best actress at the HUM Awards, was spotted in an incredibly evolved avatar wearing a crisp white chikankari sari and burgundy full sleeved  blouse which upon closer inspection you will notice has a subtle uniquely placed tie dye print designed by Feeha Jamshed for Kiran Aman’s Kam Sukhan Photography book launch. We were struck by her mature and immensely graceful style. The actress who is often spotted in FJ is more subdued in her taste but has an equally strong signature style to her childhood best friend; Feeha Jamshed.

Now that you’ve seen them alive, go try them on your own and remember to have fun!
