Makeup File with Natasha: Misha Lakhani’s Wedding Looks Revealed! (Part I)

It’s finally here, the in depth detailed coverage of designer Misha Lakhani’s wedding makeup looks straight from the source herself! Natasha who has done Misha’s makeup for her profile shoots in the past, was a natural choice when it came to styling her for the most important occasion of her life. We truly admire the young designer for bravely taking on her own wedding ensembles for all the events, however we were awestruck when we witnessed the results. The signature Misha Lakhani bride will no doubt become a staple in the days to come and she looked absolutely beautiful. However the perfect outfit required the perfect makeup and hairstyling; enter Natasha and Hina!

Hina’s fantastic Grecian braided hairdo  is like a maze!

“Having had done Misha’s makeup for her Hello Magazine and Paper profile shoots plus her look book launch shoot/ campaign, I was very excited when she booked me for her Milad, Mehndi and Baraat events. I love Misha’s aesthetic sense as not only is she very sure of what she wants, she is willing to think out of the box. I have always believed that to project a complete look, makeup and hair has to complement what one is wearing.

Misha designed all the outfits that she wore to her occasions hence when she came in for her consult she gave me a detailed description of what she was wearing on each day. We went through many hair and makeup options and then settled on the looks I gave her for each day.

Milad Hair: Hina the head hair stylist at the salon has already become to be known as a hair wizard, pretty much conjuring any variety of hair-do I ever explain to her! For Misha’s Milad we decided on a Grecian braided updo that had a braid running on the front and all around and across her head. As we wanted to giver her a soft romantic look, the braids were woven very softly as opposed to very tight. As Misha told us she would be wearing the dupatta on her head for a short while and would then take it off, we wanted a hairdo that would look good from which ever angle you saw the bride. Due to the fact that Misha’s outfit also had high neckline we wanted to lift her hair off her shoulders and portray her pretty face as the center of attention while the hair added the drama and elegance without looking severe or overpowering. Once Hina was done with Misha’s hair we literally had clients at the salon asking for the same thing right away!

Milad Makeup: Once the hair was done I started on the makeup. Misha happens to have one of the most stunning faces structures I have come across , even when I see her out and about running her errands sans makeup (no makeup look). Misha is a firm believer in less is more so I wanted her not only to shine on her occasions but also feel comfortable with the amount of product we would be giving her. Misha’s skin is pretty close to perfect and leading up to her big day I told her to moisturize, moisturize, and moisturize!

On the day of the Milad I started with La Roche Posay’s Toner all over Misha’s face. This is a great toner that hydrates while toning and tightens the pores. I followed up with Crème de La Mer’s moisturizing cream that I applied all over Misha’s face and neck. Her skin was given the sheerest of coverage with Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer, (still the best tinted moisturizer hands down), and to conceal Misha’s undereyes I used Laura Mercier’s secret camouflage (it can pretty much cover anything you can possibly imagine without exaggeration).

I love that Misha has gorgeous thick brows and to enhance them I used M.A.C’s eyeshadow in Corduroy for a stunning effect. I played with eyeshadows, ( as Misha calls it) on her eyes, using inspiration from what she was wearing. As she had chosen a floor length beaded ivory dress for this day which she draped a gorgeous gold sari over, I wanted her eyes (and the lightness of them) to be very softly highlighted. I lined her waterline with M.A.C eye pencil in Costa riche ( a gorgeous reddy brown) that instantly made her eyes look even greener than they already are.

This was followed by using M.A.C’s bronze, Tempting and Woodwinked eyeshadow all across her lid and I layered the shadows for increased depth and shine. I highlighted her browbone with my old favourite M.A.C’s Ricepaper eyeshadow and gave her a lashing of Loreal’s Telescopic mascara. Her cheeks were highlighted with NARS blush in Orgasm and on her lips I used Spice lip pencil very, very lightly followed by Revealing and Nymphette lipgloss ( both by M.A.C) blended together and applied on her lips for a gorgeous natural glossy mouth. Finally I contoured Misha’s cheekbones very softly using Guerlain’s Terracotta bronzer.

Baraat Look: Misha’s bridal was an ivory lehnga choli with the most stunning intricate floral embroidery. The hues on her lehnga were shades of pinks, oranges, yellows, greens and since pink was the dominant color, I used it as the inspiration for the makeup frame.

The happy couple

For her hair, taking in to account that she planned on covering her head and had decided to wear an exquisite tika and jhoomar, we settled on a high regal bun and to frame her bun Misha got the cutest green flowers to put that I instantly fell in love with. Detailing like this is what I love about Misha because I had never used them yet to decorate any bride’s hair, hence it was a fantastic little touch.

I wanted Misha’s makeup to create an impact yet not appear over the top. I used M.A.C Corduroy eyeshadow mixed with M.A.C’ s Shadowy lady as I wanted to contour her brows slightly more than I had in the previous days. On this day I thickened them ever so lightly as well.

This was followed by covering Misha’s lid with M.A.C Prep and Prime eye. I used Ricepaper on her browbone and her tear duct to brighten her eyes. Her lid was colored with M.A.C’s Rose Gold pigment, (a deep metallic gold which just stuns) and I contoured her socket using M.A.C’s Shadowy lady, Corduroy and Brown Down eyeshadows. I layered the gold shadow with the tiniest bit of gold shimmer ( I mix 10 glitters to make my own special blend !), so that Misha’s eyes sparkled each time the light hit them.

Love the gara embroidery on her neckline and sleeves and those green flowers are simply adorable

Once this was done I gave Misha a classic cat eye flick eyeliner that was very thin at the beginning of the eye and ot thicker towards the end. This exaggerated her eye beautifully and I used M.A.C’s Smolder eye pencil inside her waterline and sealed it with M.A.C eyeshadow in Sketch. I then used M.A.C’s Woodwinked eyeshadow under her eye and finished with curling Misha’s eyelashes, placing lash extensions and then applying lashings of Loreal Telescopic mascara on her top and bottom eyelashes.

I prepped her skin with Crème de la Mer’s moisturizing cream and then followed with M.A.C’ s Prep and Prime. I used Bobbi Brown’s lasting makeup foundation on Misha’s skin blending it well for the most natural finish and concealed using M.A.C’s pro longwear concealer. Her cheeks were given color using NARS Orgasm blush blended with Illamasqua’s blushers in Nymph and Excite. I used YSL bronzing powder to contour Misha’s high cheekbones softly.

Natasha looking gorgeous and satisfied with the glowing bride

The star of this look was to be this poppy gorgeous pink lipstick and Misha absolutely loved the idea hence I mixed about 4 lipsticks to make the perfect bright pink that suited her coloring. I’m big on mixing lipstick shades as I feel you can never achieve the right color with just one lipstick! It happens to be quite annoying for people who ask me what I’m wearing on my lips only for me to tell them im wearing about 5 different things on them!

I used Illamasqua’s lipliners in Bait and Titivate to line her pout and then blended Illamasqua lipcolors: Corrupt, Eurydice, Obey and Atomic to make Misha her perfect pink! I liked what I mixed so much that I’ve mixed more to make a signature color! I loved how beautiful she looked and more importantly how happy and comfortable she was on each day! Here’s wishing her eternal joy, love and happiness!”

Stay tuned, Misha’s Mehndi Makeup is coming up next with more exclusive shots on Part II of our special Makeup File with Natasha.
