Continuing our review of PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week Lahore lets take a look at what day 2 held in store. The second round displayed some seriously beautiful bridal couture by Ali Xeeshan, Hina Butt, Zara Shahjahan, and Asifa & Nabeel. Each collection touched on unique elements of style and creativity that reflected the vast efforts of these designers. The makeup specialists for the day were the impressive team of Maram & Aabroo who opened with an exclusive trend show ‘The Glorious Brides’ featuring the uber traditional designs of Zara Shahjahan styled by Fahad Hussayn.

Zara Shahjahan

The makeup styling paid tribute to the brides of yester-year or the original bride as we saw it with an intensity of depth in the dark kohl eyes, overtly rich base on the skin and blood red lips. There was a strong focus on authentic bridal jewelry to complement each look and all the elements blended naturally into place, an attribute that was under played on day 1.

Zara Shahjahan

Zara Shahjahan is one of our favourite bridal couture artists and her collection lived up to our expectations in every way. It offered a variety of technique, a stunning interplay of colors and textures and largely traditional bridal silhouettes. We loved the fitted full length sleeves of the red lehnga, a simple collection delivered with grace.

Ali Xeeshan

We thoroughly enjoyed Ali Xeeshan’s vibrant use of colors and edgy twists to silhouettes in his ‘Cinderella After 12’ Collection. He kept us gripped with each piece as we were careful not to miss any of the details. The collection had multitude shifts as it moved from ethnic gota on timeless lehnga cholis and angarkhas to unconventional jackets on billowing skirts. He used some lovely brocade custom fabrics juxtaposed with velvet and tulle for an unusual effect. The only complaint we had involved the short fitted kurta which seemed a bit out of place!

Asifa & Nabeel’s collection, ‘A Tribute to Jahan Ara Begum’  was at the opposite end of the scale in terms of color and vivaciousness albeit equally charming. They used subtle neutral hues and understated saffrons and burgundy that were glorious against the matte gold fabrics and ruby, sapphire and zardozi detailing. An incredibly elegant display of slim silhouettes with a hint of flow and sleek tailoring was a refreshing sight after the burst of colors. A segment of the collection was allocated to cobalt blue gowns, an astounding color that goes amazingly well with gold that we loved.

Hina Butt’s Teena Collection, ‘Ode To Sophia’ concentrated on slightly more modern lines picking on cooler shades of silver and aqua with some light peachy shades that were very pretty and we liked that she added touches of black velvet trimmings and lace for a more regal look.
