Mehreen Noorani is a Dubai based fashion designer whose label sells in Dubai, India, Hong Kong and New York. Locally Mehreen Noorani retails at Ensemble, in Karachi and Lahore. Currently residing in Dubai, the designer is a Karachi native and has graduated from New York’s prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), where she majored in Fashion Design.
Prior to launching her label, Mehreen worked at illustrious design houses in Manhattan where she streamlined her draping techniques and aesthetic sensibilities. These included a design apprenticeship with DVF—during the defining period when Diane Von Furstenberg relaunched her signature wrap dress, and at Showroom Seven International—that represented labels Red or Dead, Ghost and Erickson Beamon, the Hollywood jewelers. Mehreen has also worked as Assistant Designer for French Connection’s Spring/Summer 1999 Collection, as well as working on developing the women'swear line at Mondo di Marco.
She returned to Karachi to begin work on her MEHREEN NOORANI label, focusing on innovative, yet elegant takes on classics for a select clientèle. Soon after, she unveiled her collection at Karavan Karachi at Manora. Following this debut, she was invited to showcase in Delhi at Bridal Asia alongside prominent designers including Ritu Kumar, Rizwan Beyg and Faiza Samee.
Although her collection sold out and featured on the front pages of The Hindustan Times and The Delhi Times, and she was given widespread press coverage by South Asian magazines, Mehreen chose to maintain a low profile, focusing on trunk shows in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Riyadh, Dubai and Hong Kong.
Relocating to the Middle East over the last decade, Mehreen strengthened her international merchandising skills with a Buying Coordinator position at Harvey Nichols in Riyadh. Whilst in Saudi Arabia, she held a fashion show at the American Ambassador’s residence in the Diplomatic Quarter. She currently resides in Dubai, where she holds 3 trunk shows a year.
The talented designer currently serves on the Fashion Pakistan Council Board as an Executive Member and is now setting her sights on formally launching the MEHREEN NOORANI label in her home town, Karachi, with a stunning RTW collection that includes luxurious materials and accents. These include lace, chamois silk, satin, pearls, jet beading, crystals and fine embroidery. The MEHREEN NOORANI RTW Collection is, in her words, “a feminine concoction of convenient RTW for the upcoming social season, moving effortlessly from daytime soirées into evening galas.”
