    Fashion Pakistan To Participate at Lifestyle Exhibition Delhi 2014 Organized by TDAP
    With the success of Lifestyle Exhibition 2012 along with an overwhelming response from top notch brands under their belt, Trade Development Authority Pakistan (TDAP) is planning to hold “Lifestyle Pakistan” exhibition at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 11-14 September, 2014. The exhibition is meant to showcase Pakistan’s finest textiles, leather, fashion accessories,handicrafts, engineering and agro Products; followed with the display of Pakistani cuisine, and B2B meetings arranged with Indian importers.

    Representing Fashion Pakistan’s presence at the event will be the most exclusive designers from within the council and administrative faculty; namely, Sanam Chaudhri (Chairperson), Wardha Saleem (CEO), Deepak Perwani, Mehreen Noorani, Adnan Pardesy, Misha Lakhani and Ahsan Nazir, who will partake in the Lifestyle Expo. Through the efforts made by these designers, Pakistan’s fashion industry is now reaching immeasurable standards, sufficient to expand bases abroad, their participation is symbolic of the iconic milestones hit and harvested.

    The entire venture is also an excellent opportunity for talented Pakistani designers craving broader market spheres to display their works at a recognized and established platform, which guarantees noteworthy audiences. Other participating brands include Bareezé, Sana Safinaz, Bonanza, Sania Mmaskatiya, GulAhmed, Lala, ChenOne and Khaadi, just to name a few. The event will facilitate bonding across borders and will lead to the cultivation of Pakistan India ties, along with trade links that have immense potential to strengthen and cater to a new round of opportunities. Understanding that both the nations nest the treasure of rich Sub-continental culture; the platform with help to fully project the heritage they collectively represent.

    1. SANAM CHAUDHRI - Chairperson



    Sanam Chaudhri is a home spun fashion icon with an evolving design style be it classically refined east-Asian or nouveau urban chic. Graduating with a textile design degree fromIVSAA, she garnered valuable work experience as an interior designer for the well reputed architect Naheed Mashooqullah. In 2008, Sanam boldly launched her own fashion Week Pakistan. Although her focus is local prêt, Sanam has successfully delved into western wear which won her a wide clientele ranging from the vivacious young to the mature sophisticated more discerning woman. She stocks at popular boutiques across Pakistan and exhibits regularly in Dubai and Singapore.

    With a nomination for the LSA Best Prêt Design 2012 and 2013 and a brand new luxury prêt collection underway, Sanam is destined to be a fashion star.


    2. WARDHA SALEEM - CEO



    A graduate of textile design from the Valley School of Art and Architecture in Pakistan, she is known for her vibrancy in colours and use of natural fibres for her collections that trace their roots back to the olden times of the great Indus Civilization. Her signature emblem, a bird, engulfed in her designs represents the freedom of inspiration, which translates into her clothes that border on kitsch, a vertible flurry of colours, pop art and ethnic crafts. Wardha works with natural cottons and silks and is known for her block printed designs, screen prints and intricate traditional embroidery. In just 6 years, Wardha Saleem has become a familiar name in the fashion world with a large body of work that has appeared in leading periodicals. Her expertise in fabric techniques like weaving, dyeing and form has given her an edge in this industry and won her accolades especially for her prêt and lawn lines.


    3. DEEPAK PERWANI



    Deepak Perwani started his career at a mere age of 20 in 1994 with a men’s wear line that changed the face of men’s wear in Pakistan. The deconstruction of the sherwani made him the top men’s wear designer in the country.  He was barely 3 months old in fashion when this accolade was given to him by a national newspaper. Perwani has not looked back since then, having been called the bad boy of Pakistani fashion many a times.

    He went ahead to launch his women’s wear line in 1996, with the opening of his flagship store in Zamzama. Mr. Perwani does 4 lines a year prêt and couture for both men and women. He’s not a conformist to the east per say and draws inspiration from everything that is the past present and the future. His forward thinking and modern approach to design has taken the Pakistani man and woman into the 21st century. His philosophy and astute sense of design has made him a fashion icon and his fashion house a source of inspiration for designers in Pakistan and abroad. Minimal embellishment and a total fusion between the east and the west makes him one of the foremost designers in the country.
     
    At 23 he was chosen to be the brand ambassador for the World Gold Council and later for Dupont Lycra. He did the launch show of ABN Amro Bank in Pakistan and after that went ahead to do collaborations with Mercedes Benz, Benson & Hedges, and Hugo Boss perfume to name a few.


    4. MEHREEN NOORANI



    Mehreen Noorani is a fashion designer whose label sells in Dubai, India, Hong Kong and London. She is a Karachi native and an alumnus of Karachi Grammar School. She graduated from New York's prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) where she majored in Fashion Design. Mehreen is based between Karachi and Dubai and has also lived in Hong Kong.

    Prior to launching her own label, Mehreen worked at illustrious design houses in  New York City where she streamlined her draping techniques and aesthetic sensibilities. These included a design apprenticeship with DVF- during the defining period when Diane Von Furstenbergre launched her signature wrap dress in 1997, at Showroom Seven International (representing labels Red or Dead, Ghost and Ericson beamon, the Hollywood jewellers).

    Mehreens work has been featured in CNN Style Asia, FIT's magazine, Tribune India, Outlook India and The Hindustan Times.


    5. ADNAN PARDESY



    A graduate of the Asian Institute of Fashion Design (AIFD), Pardesy launched his label Adnan Pardesy in 2007. He defines his design philosophy as minimalism and employs structure and architecture as his inspiration for his design. Adnan Pardesy originates from an established textile background with experience in garment and textile manufacturing. He is also on the Board of Governors of Asian Institute of Fashion Design, Pakistan. In a short span of his career Adnan has made an impact on the local market. He is considered an proficient among peers and the media for the mark that he has made in fashion with pioneering in pleating, honeycomb, quilting and denim in Pakistan.

    Moving forward, the designer is endeavoring to make his collections and designs more accessible. A significant step in this route is the planned opening of Adnan’s first store in Karachi planned for end of 2014. The designer is also looking at participating in prominent bridal and pret fashion weeks not only in Pakistan and abroad also.


    6. MISHA LAKHANI



    The label is a go-to for elegant luxury pret and couture. Expect a fusion of textile detail, vintage craftsmanship, vivid prints and relaxed tailoring from Karachi-based label Misha Lakhani.

    Travel mementos, Ottoman, Asian and old Indian heritage are continuing inspirations for Misha whose signature is an eclectic aesthetic. It’s about weaving the romance of old India with the language of international chic.

    Misha has studied fashion design at Central Saint Martins and has interned with Bunto Kazmi. Misha also has an MS in Journalism from Columbia University.


    7. AHSAN NAZIR





    Muhammad Ahsan Nazir a meritorious graduate of P.F.I.D (2004) founded his design studio in 2006; the distinctive signature has evolved as a fusion of prints, embellishments, and attention to detail, eclectic colors and refined luxury. Since then it has been a journey full of hard work, dedication and a great vision to grow. The luxury fashion house is involved in design, manufacturing, retail of  apparel (couture and pret-a-porter) and currently has a global customer portfolio.
